Do you have a presentation coming up? People always tell me that everything was fine when they practiced, but when they got up to present in front of a crowd, suddenly they froze. Understand that this is totally normal and most people can get over it! Others learn to ignore their fears in their head, and the audience would never know the difference. Here are 8 tips on how you can conquer your fear of public speaking.
- Know that the audience is rooting for you and supporting you
- Bring a second outfit just in case your outfit rips or you spill something on it
- Before the show walk on the stage and test the microphone
- Be memorized or prepared 1 week before your performance
- Practice speaking your speech or script in front of a close friend or family member
- Be in the moment: Don’t think about mistakes of the past or if you will make a mistake in the future
- Imagine the performance from beginning to end while practicing
- Instead of using the word nervous use the word excited – your body reacts the same way
The more experience you have public speaking, the easier it gets!
